Chiara Spagnoli’s διάβασις
The Greek word ‘diabasis’ marks a transition.
Thought becomes a concrete act through matter.
The voyage undertook by each painting explores, with irony and the frequent use of wordplay, the motley spectrum of our surroundings.
The mould of different materials becomes the tool to cross over conventional thought.
Biography
CHIARA SPAGNOLI, born in Milan on Saint Valentine’s of 1985, owes her cosmopolitan background to the British school she attended as well as her many travels around the world. Graduated in political sciences, masters in screenwriting and production, Lee Strasberg student, she embraces several experiences in radio, television and filmmaking.
She writes as film critic and paints conceptual paintings strictly tied to the matter she uses. In the course of
a year she accomplishes various solo and group exhibitions between Milan and Rome, and makes a short-film inspired by some of her works, ‘L’Autoritratto’ (The Self-Portrait), amongst the finalists of Imafestival. Within the same festival her painting ‘Free’ achieves the finale in the category of visual arts. Her exhibit’s διάβασις will cross over the borders of her mother-land in this very occasion, in London’s edgiest creative quarter.
