Historical venues as art promulgators

The historical, artistic and architectural heritage of each country, is an essential part of its cultural identity. Every palace, castle, villa or garden has his own story, and memory that must not be forgotten. Thus, the Italian Historic Houses Association was founded in 1977 to pass on culture and traditions to future generations through the conservation of historic buildings and gardens, contributing to the protection of cultural heritage.

The events promoted by the association are always located in the roundabouts of a historical mansion open to the public.

Here is a quick overview of the current events and the adjacent Historical Mansions:

Nestled between the gentle slopes of the Monti Lariani, Lake Como has a particularly mild climate due to its fortunate geographic position. The mansion dates back to the 16th century and was restored in the second half of the 18th century in a baroque style and so it has remained ever since. The Moroni family started purchasing lands in Stezzano from the mid 1400s to consolidate what was to become an important estate of lands and buildings centred around sericulture and silk production. The country villa in Stezzano was one of the four large mansions of the family; at the beginning of the 1800s the Moroni brothers, Count Alessandro and Pietro, appointed the architect Giacomo Bianconi to make all the changes needed to realise a mansion in neoclassical style, he was a pupil of Piermarini and chose the Royal Palace in Monza as his architectural model. FONDAZIONE UGO DA COMO

Nestled amongst the stunning Southern hills of Lake Garda, in the heart of the historical centre of Lonato, lies the home of the Ugo Da Como Foundation: La Rocca Visconteo Veneta. This imposing structure once belonged to a senator from nearby Brescia, Ugo Da Como who wished to create a ‘city of culture’ within these peaceful surroundings. The Casa del Podestà is furnished to reflect the opulent Italian style of the 900’s.
