Rick “Dienzo” Blanco is a LA artist creating unique characters tending to intrigue into darkness and anxiety, with cartoon essence and post-gothic aim.
Having experienced for over 15 years in commercial art as award-winning designer, and collaborating as creative director to oversee the development of video games, sporting goods, toys and more based on the network’s originale properties, also working dor Disney, Mattel and Cartoon Network, Dienzo sees tecnica aspect as taking the world of cartoon and rendering them in the traditional work of acrili on canvas, drawing, in the aim, from the influence od post-pop-culture, from The Addams Family to The Munsters.
“I’ve always been inspired by the darker side of life,” says Dienzo, mixing dark elements with chilhood appearance.
“The timing is also right as more and more artists are bridging the gap between fine art and merchandise. They now understand the value of approaching their art as a brand and managing new opportunities from that point of view. The real beauty of this genre is that the imagery can live on the shelves of specialty retailers like Hot Topic or Urban Outfitters as readily as on the walls of a gallery.”
Adolescents aiming to be spiritual and nostalgic, with painly teddy bears and disquieting moods.
So accessibile, and so obscure. |
