Marking the 50th anniversary of the 007 film franchise, the James Bond exhibition London event takes over the Barbican spaces, including The Curve and The Pit, to take you on journey through the iconic secret agent’s developing style.

Designing 007
Titled Designing 007 – Fifty Years of Bond Style, the James Bond exhibition London event touches down at the Barbican over the summer of 2012 before touring the world over the next three years. The exhibition has been designed by Ab Rogers and curated by the Barbican, with contributions from fashion historian Bronwyn Cosgrave and Oscar winning costume designer Lindy Hemming.

50 years of style
From 1962’s Dr. No starring starring Sean Connery as the suave secret agent to this year’s Skyfall starring Daniel Craig as the most recent, hard as nails incarnation, James Bond’s on-screen style has certainly evolved over the past fifty years. The James Bond exhibition London event gives you the chance to immerse yourself in a multi-sensory experience which takes you behind the scenes of the creation and development of Bond’s style.

Costumes and more
Touching on everything from costumes and production design to gadgets, special effects, cars and exotic film locations, the James Bond exhibition London event aims to take fans on a thrilling journey through the cinematic Bond universe. Amongst the exhibits are gadgets and weapons used by Bond and some of his most notorious foes by special effects experts such as John Stears, Syd Cain and Chris Corbould, as well as set artworks and storyboards from the EON Productions archive.

Exhibition highlights
Fashion lovers will no doubt be enthralled by the display of costumes worn by the six actors who have played Bond over the past fifty years, as the 007 films have become renowned for their glamour. Amongst the clothes made by leading Hollywood costume designers, there are items by the likes of Giorgio Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Tom Ford, Jenny Packham, Oscar de la Renta, Philip Treacy and Donatella Versace, to name but a few.

The making of a screen icon
Developed from the novels and short stories of Ian Fleming, the James Bond film franchise has gone on to create such iconic screen moments as Ursula Andress emerging from the sea in a white bikini in Dr. No, Sean Connery’s trial by laser in Goldfinger and the tank chase in Goldeneye, not to mention any number of seductions between everyone’s favourite secret agent and a series of beautiful and double-entendre named women. The James Bond exhibition at the Barbican allows you to take a closer look at the craftmanship that has gone into creating one of cinema’s most enduring creations, where everything from costume design and motion graphics has combined to create an iconic look.

Designing 007 – Fifty Years of Bond Style takes place at the Barbican from Friday 6th July – Wednesday 5th September 2012. Standard tickets cost £12.00, while children under 16 get in for £8.00.
