Anna Foglietta to host the awards ceremony of the 8th Rome Film Festival
On Saturday November 16th, Italian actress Anna Foglietta will host the awards ceremony of the 8thRome Film Festival (November 8-17, 2013) and will continue to do the honours through the second part of the evening, when the Maverick Director Award will be conferred to Tsui Hark, the director, producer, and screenwriter who led the film revolution in Hong Kong starting in the late 1970s. The awards ceremony will be followed by the screening of Tsui Hark’s latest film, Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon 3D (Di Renjie Zhi Shendu Longwang 3D).

A film, theatre, and television actress, she was born in Rome, and has worked for some of the most famous Italian comedy film directors such as Carlo Vanzina (Ex-Amici come prima!, 2011 and Us in the U.S., 2013) and Neri Parenti (Lightning Strike, 2012). She was first noticed on the big screen for her part in the episode La donna del Mister, directed by Claudio Cupellini as part of the film 4-4-2 – Il gioco più bello del mondo (2006) produced by Paolo Virzì.
In 2010 she was part of the international cast in The American, directed by Anton Corbijn, starring George Clooney. In 2011, she played the brilliant role of Eva in Escort in Love (Nessuno mi può giudicare), directed by Massimiliano Bruno, with Paola Cortellesi and Raul Bova, which won her a nomination at the David di Donatello and the Nastri d’Argento as Best Supporting Actress. For the same film, she won the Ischia Breakout Actress Award as the actress revelation of the year and the Antica Fratta Award as Best Actress in a Comedy Film at the Nastri d’Argento 2011. In 2012, she stars as the protagonist in L’amore è imperfetto by Francesca Muci, mentre in Lightning Strike (Colpi di fulmine) with Christian De Sica and, among others, Lillo & Greg, Luisa Ranieri, and Arisa, Anna Foglietta was the picturesque fishmonger Adele, a role for which she won a nomination at the Nastri d’Argento 2013 as Best Supporting Actress. She was one of the leading stars in Carlo Vanzina’s latest film, Us in the U.S. (Mai Stati Uniti, 2013), a collective comedy with Vincenzo Salemme, Ambra Angiolini, Ricky Memphis and Giovanni Vernia.
Anna Foglietta has had a lengthy career in the theatre, which began in 1997, performing in plays from the great Italian theatre repertory (De Filippo, Scarpetta, Pirandello). She is also known and loved by the wider public for her role as Agent Anna De Luca in the Italian television series La squadra, (2004–2005). In 2008, she became part of the cast of Distretto di polizia, where she played Inspector Elena Argenti. In January 2014, she will star in the new comedy by Paolo Genovese, Tutta colpa di Freud, with Marco Giallini, Vittoria Puccini and Vinicio Marchioni.
