An extraordinary 2011 edition

October 27th to 31st

Now in its sixth edition, Movement Torino Music Festival – Italian cousin of the cult Detroit Electronic Music Festival Festival (DEMF) – consistently builds a path of exponential growth, proposing in 2011 a program which does not end with fireworks at the final appointment Palaolimpico Isozaki, but develops into a rich week, with the tip at the centre of contemporary culture, electronic music.

The European edition of the festival is staged for the first time outside the U.S. on December 15th 2006 in Torino to celebrate the closing of the Winter Olympics. Since then, for the entire week before Halloween, Movement has become a happening that involves Torino and its most symbolic places like the Olympic arenas, clubs, museums and universities, confirming the most awaited event in Italy by electronic music lovers. Each year the event attracts a steadily increasing audience from all over Europe and places Torino, a nutrient cultural exchange with Detroit and other electronic music reference communities such as Berlin, Lausanne, Ibiza, Amsterdam and Tokyo.

A dense schedule of meetings, workshops, special events will be the setting for live and DJ sets that will be the protagonists of the happenings in the program, transforming the city into a hub of new sounds, new technologies and contemporary art. This special scenario announces an amazing 2011 edition, able to connect quality and entertainment through creative ways that will astonish the public.

From October 20th to 29th, from Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali ground floor, Casa Movement, will host art exhibitions, pre-party with the best national DJ, cocktails and art workshops for musicians and technicians. From October 27th the Festival comes alive with an exceptional cast, which will culminate in a crescendo Monday, October 31 with the final show at the Turin Palaisozaki.

The inaugural happening on Thursday 27th will feature two rising stars of electronics world, the Irish visionary Space Dimension Controller and the enfant prodige Kyle Hall from Detroit, and on Friday 28th genres experimentation will be featured at the Conservatory of Torino with Aufgang, the project was born from the encounter between Rami Khalifè pianists, Francesco Tristano and drummer Avmeric Westrich, authors of a concert with piano, drums and electronic contamination. Is scheduled for Saturday 29th the exclusive Circoloco party, voted as the best party in Ibiza, with four artists with diverse eclecticism. From the beat of Detroit techno by Stacey Pullen, continuing with the acid, minimal and Chicago experiments of the French DJ W!ld, through the freshness of Tania Vulcano and ending with the talented David Squillace from Naples.

Sunday 30th have scheduled two appointments that will catalyze media attention and that will lead the way for the big final show scheduled for Halloween night. It starts with the Superga Day, Happy Happening dedicated to 100 years of oldest Italian brand shoes will be accompanied by the sound of Lil’Louis, historical producer of Chicago, considered one of the founders of house music. The great day of music will end in a place of mythical Murazzi Po.  As in previous years will be the Palaolimpico Isozaki structure, built for the 2006 Winter Olympics and now the temple of the best international music, to reveal itself as a perfect space for the great rite of Movement: shiny mirrors and frosted glass, metal surfaces, an ultra-aesthetic marvel that is filled with guys from all over Italy, from many parts of Europe. Monday, October 31st in four rooms of Palaolimpico take turns on stage the biggest names in the international electronic scene. First among others the unmissable Underworld, confirmed in their only Italian event this autumn with a concert inscribed in the history of contemporary music in intensity and ability to engage. And then Carl Craig with his project 69 live, Green Velvet, Laurent Garnier with L.B.S. Live set, the phenomenon of the moment Visionquest (Seth Troxler, Lee Curtiss, Shaun Reeves and Ryan Crosson), Movement godfather all over the world Derrick May, the phenomenal Damian Lazarus, and more with John Digweed, Steffi, Cassy, Art Department, Shinedoe, Guy Gerber Live, Mirko Loco and Tama Sumo,

A cast that unites Europe and USA through artists with inventive and unique personalities. The end of this year promises to be an explosive live set with the pioneers of modern electronics, the highly anticipated Underworld, the English duo riding the world scene for two decades and will present exclusively for Movement the new record Barking.

From this year, as first festival in Italy, alongside the traditional mode, the purchase of tickets for the Final Show is also available via mobile phone!
