Back in 2011 at the Venice FIlm Festival, Mr. Thomas Alfredson, took a piece of UK to conquer that red carpet with the spy-story “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”, by Alfredson, starring the 2011 Academy Award Colin Firth, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, David Thewlis, Mark Strong and Ciaran Hinds, adapted from John Le Carrè’s book.

Set in the ‘70s, the story tells about George Smiley, a MI6 ex agent still working for privates.
When a spy is supposed to be set in the heart of Circus, Smiley will be soon convinced to come into the spy-world, again.
Committed to discover which of his colleagues has decided to betray him and the country, he’ll restrict the search to four possible suspects – all agents competent and successful – but between stories of past rivalry friendships it won’t be easy for him to find the spy that is eroding the British government

My inspiration comes from the book and form painting and music too, I’m not too fanatic of spy-story movies, I have to admit. So I tried to use a completely different mood of working, from the typical spy-stories for cinema. It’s first of all a story about men. Lonely men, able to escape from everything, from life itself to love, to finish their missions, positive or negative, no matters in the end. Loyalty and morality will be needed, but when a war is coming this values might break.
It’s a story of human sacrifices
”, said Director Thomas Alfredson at the press conference.
